Franciscan Library, Tarija
With a total number of 17.000 books, the Library of the Franciscan Convent has become one of the most important academic reference centers for students and researches alike.
One of the wings from the library has in storage documents of incalculable historical value from various European countries, especially countries that have religious connections with the Franciscan Friars. Many of the jewels of this highly valuable collection are from the XVI century. Even though one of the oldest volumes was edited in 1501, the hard covers (most of which are made of goat skin) are still in good shape, and the actual art of the books themselves is just amazing.
