Location of the tour
Samaipata town is located 120 kilometers(1650 m.a.s.l ) to the southwest of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in the foothills of the Andes on the way to Cochabamba.
About nine kilometers from Samaipata parish is located the main attraction of the region "El Fuerte de Samaipata". It features a stone hill carved with a wide variety of animal and geometric figures. It has been designated a World Heritage Site.
During your stay in Samaipata you can also visit the Samaipata Archaeological and Anthropological Research Centre that displays a collection of bowls, receptacles of various kinds and dishes. This reach region also features waterfalls and natural attractions.
Tour Itinerary:
The tour starts by picking you up from your Hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

The Pre Inca archeological site "El Fuerte" is located nine kilometers before Samaipata town. It is the largest caved stone in the world, declared Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO.
Samaipata was a ceremonial center and it is supposed that El Fuerte is the work of the Amazonian pre-Incan 'Chané' culture, and later on was used as an advanced city by the Incas and finally by the Spanish colonists that turned El Fuerte into a fortress.

15:30 We will travel 20 km away from Samaipata town to visit Las Cuevas waterfall, an exotic place that features three small waterfalls and a natural swimming pool.
The Samaipata archeological site stones are divided in two sections: the stone carvings uphill and the residential area downhill.
After our visit to El Fuerte, we will take you to Samaipata town for lunch.
Later we will make a stop at the Samaipata Archaeological and Anthropological Research Centre to see some objects found during the excavations.
At the end of our journey we will travel to Las Cuevas Waterfalls located 20 km away from the Samaipata town. This exotic place features three small waterfalls and a natural swimming pool.
16:30 We will return to Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
19:00 + 1 Arrival in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
We will travel 120 km to reach Samaipata town. The first 60 km of the trip will be on a flat road and the following 60 km through the mountainous region. On the way to Samaipata you will breathe fresh and clean air enjoying beautiful panoramic views of the Santa Cruz Valley.
The El Fuerte Samaipata stone is considered as the largest piece of pre-Hispanic architecture stone in south America. This huge sculptured rock, dominating the town below, is a unique testimony to pre-Hispanic traditions and beliefs.
After lunch we will visit the the Samaipata Archaeological and Anthropological Research Centre.
