The private transfer from Puno to La Paz will start by picking you up from your hotel in Puno. We can travel to La Paz via Copacabana or via Desaguadero. The route Puno - Desaguadero is shorter, but the immigration procedures are longer as there a lot of trucks trying to pass customs controls.
We recommend travelling from Puno to La Paz in the morning and no later than 14:00hrs, due to the opening hours of the Peruvian-Bolivian border posts and immigration control.
Travelling time between Puno and La Paz is about 7 to 7,5 hrs, depending on trafic. The road is in a good state and is fully paved.
In case you decide to travel to La Paz via Copacabana, we can include a short stop there for lunch. During the trip you will enjoy beautiful views of Lake Titicaca, shared by Bolivia and Peru.
It is important to mention that you will need to change vehicles at the border. Both at the Kasani or Desaguadero border-crossings the passengers need to disembark from the peruvian vehicle and get their passports stamped in both immigration offices.
Once the procedure is over, you will board a bolivian vehicle that will transport you to La Paz. Due to international regulations, peruvian tour operators may not enter Bolivian territory, and vice versa. It is for this reason that we need to change the vehicle at the border.
We will be responsible for coordinating the time when the two chofers need to be at the border.
Type of vehicle:
From 1 to 6 passengers we use tourist minivans that can transport up to 6 passengers.
For groups of 6 to 10 passengers we use a buffalo minivan. The luggage is secured to the roof of the vehicle.
In case your group consists of 11 or more passengers, we will provide a tourist bus with 30, 35 or 40 seats. Please send us an inquiry for the best rates for large groups.
All vehicles have insurance agains accidents and are equipped with a first-aid kit.
Important!
We strongly recommend taking the private transfer La Paz - Copacabana in the morning and Copacabana - La Paz before 17:30hrs to be able to cross the Tiquina straight during daylight hours and avoid the winds at sunset.
Rate includes:
- Pick up from your Hotel in Puno.
- Private transportation Puno - La Paz. Travel time 7 to 7,5 hours approx. You can choose to travel via Kasani or via Desaguadero. Once in La Paz we will drop you off at your Hotel.
- Spanish speaking driver.

- Meals and beverages
- Shared ticket to cross the Tiquina Strait 0.2 USD or 2 BOB if you choose to travel from Puno to La Paz via Copacabana.
