Travel time between La Paz and Copacabana is 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic. The road to Copacabana is in a good state and fully paved. During the trip passengras may request to stop at a service station to use the bathroom and buy water or snacks.
During he journey passengers will enjoy the picturesque landscapes of the Bolivian Altiplano and views of the Minor Titicaca lake.
Approaching Copacabana you will cross the Tiquina straight by boat. The vehicle will travel on a specialized boat while the passengers will cross on shared boats. No passengers are allowed to remain inside the vehicles for safety reasons.
The price for crossing the Tiquina straight is 2 BOB (about 0,20 USD) per person.
Passports will be checked on the other side of the Tiquina straight, so we recommend you take with you your documents and wallet and not leave them inside the vehicle.
There are public bathrooms on both sides of the staright should you require to use one.
The private transfer from La Paz to Copacabana includes the pickup from El Alto International Airport, your hotel in La Paz or the La Paz Bus Station.
Once in Copacabana we will drop you off at your hotel.
Type of vehicle:
From 1 to 6 passengers we use tourist minivans that can transport up to 6 passengers.
For groups of 6 to 10 passengers we use a buffalo minivan. The luggage is secured to the roof of the vehicle.
In case your group consists of 11 or more passengers, we will provide a tourist bus with 30, 35 or 40 seats. Please send us an inquiry for the best rates for large groups.
All vehicles have insurance agains accidents and are equipped with a first-aid kit.
Rate includes:
- Pick up from your Hotel in the La Paz city, La Paz bus station or El Alto International Airport.
- Private transportation La Paz - Copacabana. Travel time 4 hours approx. Once in Copacabana we will drop you at your Hotel.
- Spanish speaking driver.

- Shared ticket to cross the Tiquina Strait 0.2 USD or 2 BOB
