About Bolivia Travel Site
Passionate local professionals, certified guides, and trusted 4x4 drivers dedicated to making Bolivia's most extraordinary destinations accessible, safe, and unforgettable.
Born in Bolivia, Driven by True Exploration
Exploring Bolivia should be inspiring, not complicated. We founded Bolivia Travel Site to bridge the gap between discerning international travelers and the country’s most remote, spectacular destinations.
Over the years, we have built trusted, direct partnerships with indigenous communities, local lodge owners, and certified high-altitude drivers. By operating directly on the ground across all nine departments, we eliminate unnecessary intermediaries—ensuring clear communication, verified safety protocols, and deeply authentic journeys.
From the vast salt crust of Uyuni and the sacred waters of Lake Titicaca to colonial Sucre and the wildlife of the Amazon Basin, we manage every detail so you can travel with complete peace of mind.

Booking Conditions & Regional Policies
Clear, transparent guidelines regarding booking confirmation, cancellation timelines, privacy, and high-altitude Uyuni expeditions.
1. Booking Process & Payment Confirmation
How to Book Your Tour or Transfer:
- Inquiry & Tailor-Made Quote: Submit your request online or contact us via WhatsApp. Our travel specialists provide a detailed, itemized itinerary and fixed quotation in USD.
- Confirmation & Deposit: To lock in private 4x4 vehicles, hotel allocations (especially Salt Hotels), and certified guides, a deposit or full payment (depending on lead time) is processed.
- Accepted Payment Methods: Online payments are processed securely via PayPal, Wise, or major international credit cards. All transactions are protected with SSL bank-grade encryption.
- Voucher Delivery: Once payment is confirmed, you receive an official digital Travel Voucher containing your driver/guide contact numbers, pickup times, and detailed emergency protocols.
2. Cancellations, Penalties & Refund Policy
We understand that international travel plans can change. Because private 4x4 vehicles, train tickets, and specialty lodges require strict prepayment in Bolivia, the following cancellation terms apply:
Standard Tour & Transfer Cancellation Timeline:
- 30+ Days Prior to Departure: 85% refund of total tour cost (15% administrative and non-refundable booking fee retained).
- 15 to 29 Days Prior to Departure: 50% refund of the total service cost.
- 7 to 14 Days Prior to Departure: 25% refund of the total service cost.
- Less than 7 Days / No-Show: Non-refundable due to vehicle exclusivity and guide reservations.
*Note: Airline tickets, train tickets (Ferroviaria Andina), and certain high-demand salt hotels follow strict third-party non-refundable terms once issued.
3. Privacy & Data Protection Policy
At Bolivia Travel Site, we take your personal privacy seriously:
- Data Collection: We only collect information strictly required to operate your travel services (passport copies for national park permits, flight details for airport pickups, and dietary requirements).
- Zero Third-Party Sharing: Your personal data is never sold, shared, or distributed to third-party marketers. It is shared solely with official park migration authorities and operating logistics teams.
- Encrypted Transactions: We do not store sensitive credit card or payment credentials on our servers. All transactions are handled securely through PayPal and Wise.
4. Specific Policies for Salar de Uyuni & Desert Expeditions
The Salar de Uyuni and Eduardo Avaroa Reserve are remote, high-altitude environments (3,650m to 4,850m). The following specific conditions apply:
Rainy Season & Water Levels (January – April):
When the salt flat is flooded to create the iconic mirror effect, driving directly across the deep center to Incahuasi Island may become inaccessible for vehicle safety. In such cases, drivers adapt the route to safe flooded reflection zones and alternative volcanic viewpoints.
High-Altitude Winter Weather (June – August):
Temperatures in the Siloli Desert drop below -15°C (5°F) at night. Extreme snow or ice may temporarily close the Hito Cajones Border Pass. When this occurs, our operations team coordinates route modifications through the lower Ollagüe Pass to prevent stranding.
Vehicle Safety & Passenger Capacity:
All tours utilize certified 4WD Toyota Land Cruiser / Nissan Patrol vehicles. To ensure maximum safety and comfort on rugged terrain, private tours maintain strict passenger limits with luggage secured on reinforced roof racks.
National Park Regulations:
Entrance tickets to the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve (150 Bs) and Incahuasi Island (30 Bs) are managed by local community park authorities. Visitors must respect park signage, protected flamingo feeding zones, and fragile salt formations.
