Shared Tour Copacabana - Lake Titicaca and - Sun Island (Isla del Sol)

07:00 The tour begins by picking up the passengers from a centrally located hotels in La Paz city.

We will travel to the town of Copacabana located 155 Kms from La Paz city. Travel time is about 4 hours.

During the trip we will cross the Bolivian Altiplano (High Plains), with impressive views of the Cordillera Real mountains and Lake Titicaca.

Upon arrival in Copacabana we will visit the Basilica of Copacabana that boasts a mixture of renaissance and barroque styles. Inside, the main altarpiece is barroque style and behind it is the famous chamber of the Virgin of the Candelaria or Virgin “Morena”, whose chapel is always open and is one of the most visited pilgrimage centers in Bolivia.

After a short stroll in Copacabana we will have lunch. We recommend a fresh trout from Lake Titicaca.

Next, we will go to the port of Copacabana to board a shared boat and travel about an hour and a half to the south side of the Sun Island (Isla del Sol). This mystic place was considered the cradle of life by the Inca culture and their descendents. Legend tells that on this island Manco Capac and his wife Mama Ocllo, initiated the Inca dynasties and from here they went on to found Cuzco.

During our stay on the Sun Island (Isla del Sol), we will visit the pre-hispanic ruins of Pilkokaina and walk on a path that leads to Yumani, where we will descend on the stairs of the Inca and to see the fountain of Three Waters (Tres Aguas). You will see the traditional tacanas (agricultural terraces), the traditional method of cultivation of the inhabitants of the Sun Island (Isla del Sol) since Inca times.

After enjoying the energies of the Sun Island (Isla del Sol), we will return to the town ofCopacabana, where we will board the bust that will take us back to La Paz city.

You may choose to end the tour in La Paz city, or board a tourist bus that will take you to Puno, Peru.
