Location of the tour
The tour begins in La Paz city, Bolivia.
You will travel from La Paz to Copacabana town. Travel time between La Paz and Copacabana is about 4 hours.
You will then board the Catamaran and enjoy a pleasant cruise on Lake Titicaca. You will navigate to the Sun Island (Isla del Sol) where you will visit the Inti Wata Cultural Complex and take a trip in a large raft made from totora reed.
After touring the Sun Island (Isla del Sol), we will transport you to the port of Chua, where you will board tourist buses that will take you back to the city of La Paz.
Tour Itinerary:
05:45 a.m. Pickup from the Hotels centrally located in La Paz city. You will travel comfortably in tourist buses from La Paz city to Copacabana town. Travel time is about 4 hours. On the way to Copacabana we will cross the Tiquina straight. Here you will need to leave the bus and take shared boats to cross.
Once in Copacabana, we will visit the Sanctuary of the Virgin 'Morena', patron of Lake Titicaca. After a short visit to the church, we will go to the port where you will board the Catamaran.
You will navigate the blue waters of Lake Titicaca to the Sun Island (Isla del Sol), birthplace of the Inca Empire. The Sun Island (Isla del Sol) is the most enigmatic part of Lake Titicaca. Ancient legends tell that this is where the Sun was born.
During your visit to the south part of the Sun Island (Isla del Sol) we will take a stroll through the Inca gardens. At the time of the Inca Empire, these gardens were full of flowers andean trees.
We will climb the Inca's stairs to Yumani hill, constructed to reach the Sacred Fountain. Next to the stairs is a stone channel that allows the continuous flow of water to the bottom of the hill.
After a bit of excercise climbing the Inca's stairs, we will visit the Intiwata Cultural Complex, the main private tourist attraction on the Sun Island (Isla del Sol). The complex has been constructed respecting the cultural and ecological values of the island. It contains a large amount of precolombian artifacts, as well as a variety of andean flora and fauna.
The Inti Wata Cultural Complex contains the subterranean Ekako museum, traditional medicine center and the construction of totora rafts, the Pachamama terraces of Inca agriculture, a handicratfs center, the Inca's refuge and a great variety of andean camelids near the "Manco Kapac" viewpoint.
The visit to the Inti Wata Cultural Complex also includes a trip on board one of the huge totora rafts. The raft can comfortably transport up to 40 passengers. The trip begins at the Inca's stairs and ends near the ruins of the temple Pilcocaina.
After these visits, you will board the catamaran once again. You will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch aboard while we transport you to the port of Chua.
Once in Chua we will take tourist buses to return to La Paz city.
