Toro Toro National park is located in the Potosí department 138 Km away from Cochabamba city. You can only have access to this area through Cochabamba. Toro Toro has an area of 1160 square kilometers with 10535 habitants. The travel time from Cochabamba to Toro Toro is about 5 hours. During the trip you will travel on a combination of paved and unpaved roads.
Located in a region typically rocky with canyons, valleys and waterfalls, the Toro Toro National park offers to visitors an unforgettable experience.
Day 1: Cochabamba - Toro Toro - Itas Stone city
7:00 Pick up from your Hotel in Cochabamba town, Cochabamba Bus Station or Cochabamba Airport.
7:30 Private transportation from Cochabamba city to Toro Toro town.
11:30 Arrival in Toro Toro town, Check-in at your Hotel.
11:45 Tourist registration at the Toro Toro National Park office.
Private transportation to Itas Stone city located 2.5 hrs away from Toro Toro town.
Return to Toro Toro city
During your visit to the Gothic Stone City of Itas you walk by numerous rocky labyrinths that lead to narrow caves.
You will see about 4000 meter high rock formations, a series of eroded stones and rupestrian paintings. These wonders make this area one of the most interesting places of the Toro Toro tourist circuit.
We will provide guestrooms with private bathroom and 24 hrs hot water.
Visit to "Pachamama wasy" Museum where you will see a fossils collection and different rock formations.
Trek through the Wayllas hill - a 3 km course covered with hundreds of dinosaur prints. These footprints are among the most precious treasures that have been discovered in this region. The Mesozoic stones of the Toro Toro area allowed the fossilization of hundreds of vertebrate and invertebrate animal fragments as well as the conservation of valuable Dinosaurs footsteps.
You will hike to the Toro Toro canyon, stopping at a viewpoint where you can see the unique "parabas de frente roja" or read head parrots.
Later you will climb down the canyon to reach the El Vergel waterfall.
Box lunch on the shore of the El Vergel waterfall.
You will walk back to Toro Toro town, seeing several rupestrian paintings.

Day 3: Umajalanta Cavern
Private transportation to Umajalanta cavern, located 10 km west from Toro Toro Village. Umajalanta is one of the biggest caverns in Bolivia. The expedition inside Umajalanta Cavern is made in absolute darkness. It is necessary to enter with special equipment. (Helmets and flashlights are a must.)
During the hike inside the cavern you will be able to see different galleries and you will observe interesting formations of stalactites and stalagmites on the cave roof. Almost at the end of the excursion you will see the blind fish "Trichomycterius chaberti" that made the small lagoons formed inside the Umajalanta Cavern their home.
Transportation back to Toro Toro town.

What to bring to Toro Toro?
Warm and fresh clothes. Carry good and comfortable trekking shoes (at least 2 pairs) due to the characteristics of the area you can get pretty dirty and wet.
Sun Glasses, sun block cream, a hat and mosquito repellent.
A good backpack to carry your water, extra clothes and first aid kit.
A good camera.
A valid ID with picture for your registration at the Toro Toro National park office.
Energy bars or chocolate to give you enough energy during the expeditions.
