Location

The Hotel Tayka de los Volcanes is conveniently located en route to/from Chile and Argentina, in some of the most outstanding areas of this part of the Andes, and close to Laguna Colorada and Laguna Verde, as well as the volcanic fumes of Sol de Manana, thus providing our guests with a great number of activities to choose from while staying at the lodge.

Access is possible from Uyuni (230 km) and Tupiza (130 km) in Bolivia, as well as from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile (Atacama Desert, 300 km) and La Quiaca, Argentina (230 km).

"El Hotel Tayka de los Volcanes"(spanish for Hotel of the Volcanoes) is surrounded by the outstanding scenaries of the protected area of Reserva de Flora y Fauna Andina (REA National Park).

The hotel faces the scenic marshlands of Quetena Grande with Uturunco Volcano (over 6,000 m.a.s.l.) in the background, thus providing overwhelming views over the entire region and countless possibilities of excursions in the surroundings.

Capacity : only 40 guests in 12 rooms with private bathrooms and heating. Reception, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms.

Additional Services

Activities range from easy (eg. gentle walks on the foothills of the volcano) to difficult (such as mountain climbing up to the top of a number of Andean peaks in the area).

Allow at least two full days to explore this area. Consider at least 5 days/4 nights for a more complete expedition (eg. Uyuni Salt Flats + Sud Lipez). Ask us for our special extensions to Chile, Argentina and Peru.
