Paleantology Museum of Tarija

The museum is open since 1940. It presents 700 pieces in its exhibitions. 505 of these pieces belong to mammals whose fossils have been found in the Quaternary Cave of Tarija and 195 pieces belong to spineless fossils from the Paleozoic era. The archaeological section has 5,000 pieces which are conformed by lithic and ceramic pieces, arrows tips, mugs, darts and others.

Gold Museum

The small museum in Challapampa displays Inca treasures, ancient pottery and some metal objects discovered underwater off the island. Many come from Johan Reinhard's underwater research near the northern end of the island, others have been donated by the people of Challapampa.
